In February of 2000, the North York Harvest Food Bank established a Strategic Action Plan (SAP).  The Plan highlighted a number of elements considered to be fundamental to the goal of realizing the ideals contained within our Mission Statement.  Each element contained its own set of short-term and long-term objectives.  Shortly thereafter, many of these elements within the SAP evolved and became an integral part of the organization's purpose and fund-raising structure.  The programs noted below are partnerships with other corporations that sponsor them or they are partnerships with other community organizations that play a role in their execution.

With respect to corporate involvement, in 2000 the Corporate Advisory Board of the Food Bank launched the Corporate Connectors Circle - a corporate giving and marketing program - to reach out to corporate partners, thereby stabilizing our funding base and allowing for new program development.  The Corporate Connectors Circle includes several levels of giving and recognition ranging from gifts of $2,500 at the Gatherer level up to Trailblazer sponsorships of $15,000.

The new program development both of a corporate or community nature is broken down into the following Programs.

Agency Relations - to provide professional resources and support to our member agencies to ensure that their programs meet certain standards and objectives.

Community Action Resource Centre (CAR-C) - to maintain a resource centre that provides clients with emergency groceries, referrals to other community services, assistance with resume writing, a job and employment training board, free tax clinics and access to technological needs.

Making Connections -  a community project that was initiated in the summer of 1998 in response to the need for fresh, healthy food for hungry people.

Outreach and Public Education - to increase awareness of hunger and poverty issues and also heighten awareness of the Food Bank's work in addressing these issues, and to generate greater resources from the community to combat hunger and poverty.

Roving Heroes: Trucking and Food Distribution - to improve the efficiency, safety, and capacity in moving product to our clients

Thriving Babies Emergency Formula Fund - to the creation of a special fund designation towards the purchase of one of the most sought after and under donated food items…baby formula

Warehouse - to initiate new and improved practices in order to streamline our existing food collection and distribution operation.

Website - to maintain and expand the North York Harvest Food Bank website.

Youth Volunteers - to train youth in leadership skills, public speaking, office skills, technology, developing food drives, management techniques, and team building
