A HUGE WELCOME TO OUR NEW PARTNER: THE ONTARIO TRILLIUM FOUNDATION

The North York Harvest Food Bank is proud to announce that we have been awarded a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in the amount of $240,000 over 48 months.  The purpose of the grant is to expand and enhance our in-house food bank service and to initiate new and improved food distribution practices to our member agencies.  In addition, a portion of the grant is allocated towards the purchase of a new truck, which is necessary to carry out our core food distribution activities.

The increase in demand for our services, as well as the growing need for more services outside of regular business hours, along with the greater need for more culturally appropriate food due to the growing immigrant population, combine to form the rationale for seeking a major increase in operational funding.  The Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant gives us the opportunity and ability to further enhance the fulfillment of our mission “To feed those in need and work to reduce hunger”

On behalf of the over 100,000 people annually served through the North York Harvest Food Bank's network of 45 community-based food programs, we express our sincerest thanks and gratitude.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Ministry of Culture, receives annually $100 million of government funding generated through Ontario's charity casino initiative. The Foundation allocates grants to eligible charitable and not-for-profit organizations in the arts and culture, environment, human and social services, and sports and recreation sectors.
